Multicodes can be very useful when creating transactions. A multicode lets you group up to eight procedures that are commonly performed together and enter them using a single umbrella code. For example, when a patient comes in, you could commonly perform a comprehensive oral evaluation, four film bitewings, a panoramic film, and prophylaxis. Combine all four of these procedures in one multicode and enter the transaction once instead of four times. An advantage of this is that you won't forget any of the common procedures when doing the billing.

Full Instructions
Go to the Setup option in the toolbar, locate the Additional Setup section, and click Setting up multicodes.

The Multicode List contains all multicodes already created in the program. The graphic above shows those that come with the sample database.
To create a new multicode, click New Multicode or press F8.

Create a code that describes this multicode, such as Initial Adult Visit, or Emergency Exam. You can enter up to eight digits or letters for this code. You can also leave the Code field empty and let the program create a code based on the description.
In the Description field, enter a concise description of the codes included in the multicode.
Then, using the Service Code field, choose those procedures that you want included. Start typing the code number if you know it or click the down arrow to pop up the code list. If you need to do a more comprehensive search for a code, click the Lookup icon to access the search screen with filters.
When you have selected all codes, click Save Changes.
Multicodes are available in many parts of the program, such as when creating an appointment, or adding transactions to a claim.
Customizing
The columns displayed in the Multicode List screen are customizable. See Customizing a Screen.
In addition, the filters can also be changed -- added to, removed, etc. See Customizing Filters.
