If you use the Scheduler, set up resources to help in scheduling appointments.

 

Resources can include operatory rooms, as well as examination rooms, necessary equipment that needs to be scheduled. Even providers can be set up as resources. By setting these up in your resources list, resources can be displayed in the Scheduler along with the providers. It is a very easy thing then to book a room or equipment needed for an appointment, or see what is not available and change the appointment to a time when the resource is available.

 

Quick Steps

1.

Click Setup in the toolbar.

 

2.

Find Practice Information and click Set up resources.

 

3.

Press F8 or click New Resource.

 

4.

Enter a description of the room or equipment. If you want, you can also enter a provider's name as a resource.

 

5.

Leave the check mark in the Show resource on the scheduler box.

 

6.

Press F3 or click Save Changes.

 

Repeat this procedure for each room or piece of equipment used in the practice.

Open the Resource List by going to the Setup option in the toolbar, locating Practice Information, and clicking Set up resources.

Click New Resource or press F8.

In the Resource Entry screen, the code can be generated automatically by the program, using the first three letters of your description followed by two digits, beginning with 00. You can enter an enormous number of resources for the practice, limited only by your imagination and hard drive space. You can bypass the automatic creation of the code and create your own by clicking the field and typing whatever you want. However, once the resource record is saved, the code cannot be edited. To change it, you must delete the record and recreate it.

The resources appear in the Scheduler in the order in which they are created.

 

Enter a description of the resource, such as Room 14, or Hygiene. This identifies the room or equipment. If you want columns for providers as well as rooms, use a provider's name as a resource.

 

If you want the resource to display on the Scheduler, leave the check mark in the Show resource on the scheduler box (below the description).

 

Be sure to click Save Changes to save the new entry.

Customizing

Items shown in the Resource List screen can be customized by adding either Date Created or Date Modified to the display. Click Customize this View to make any changes, then click OK and then Close Screen to save changes.

 

If you want to revert to the program defaults, click Set Default in the Customize View screen.
